BHO Demon SpyWare Housecall Autoruns

… and then we DESTROY ALL SCUMWARE!

Rooting out the Rubbish

Run BHO Demon (audits BHOs - Browser Helper Objects)

Run Ad-aware

Run SpyBot Search & Destroy

Run Housecall
Note: If you are running either WinXP or WinMe, it is recommended that you turn off the System Restore feature temporarily before you remove a virus.  If a virus is embedded in the System Restore folder, your virus software won't be able to remove it.  If you should go back to a previous System Restore point, you could re-infect your computer.

Your virus software may continue to detect a virus in the System Restore folder even though you have removed the threat.  I would consider a virus residing in the System Restore folder to be dormant - a potential threat if you invoke the Restore feature.

Instructions on how to toggle System Restore:

Run MSConfig
Start --> Run --> type in "msconfig" (no quotes) --> OK --> Startup

The hardest part of running MSConfig is knowing what processes are safe to run as opposed to which ones are malware.  Here's 3 resources that you may want to use to help you sort out the good guys from the bad guys:

Startup - Keep this page open in a browser window.  It will help you determine whether a program needs to be run or not at startup.

AnswersThatWork.com - their renowned Task List is a wonderful resource.

WinTasks4 Online Library - WinTasks4 is a utility that you must buy.  However, their online task list page is free and has some excellent information.

Run Autoruns
