User Profiles

You must create a User Profile before you can begin to use Outlook.  Your User Profile will include the name of your mailbox, where your Address Book(s) will be stored, and what Information Services you will be using.

Generally, you only need one User Profile.  If you occasionally need to work with a different set of Information Services, it may be helpful to create an additional profile to use with those services.  If more than one person uses the same computer, each person should have a separate profile to keep personal items secure.

You can copy an existing User Profile, rename it, and then modify it as needed to create your profile.  You can have Outlook start with the same profile every time, or you can be prompted to select a profile each time you start.

Information Services

You can configure multiple Information Services within each User Profile.  The following Information Services are provided with Outlook for the Pinellas County Schools:

Microsoft Exchange Server
(this service will be added when you create your User Profile)
Personal Address Book
(this service will be added when you create your User Profile)
Outlook Address Book
(this service will be added when you create your User Profile)
Internet Mail
Personal Folders

You must add any desired Information Service to your User Profile before you can use its features.

Information Services make it possible to send, store, and receive messages and items and to specify where to store addresses.  With Information Services, you can control how email systems address and deliver your messages and how your messages and folders are stored.  You can specify the delivery location for incoming messages, the location of your Personal Address Book, and the use of any Personal Folders you create.

Outlook Options

Outlook has a large variety of options that may be set that govern how it looks and operates. Most of the settings should probably be left to their default values. However, a few of these settings should be changed, and some are of particular interest to the school system. Here are the most valuable:

You can have Outlook automatically check your outgoing email messages for spelling errors.
You may define the format of your outgoing email messages.
You may give other people access to your Calendar.
You may define your normal work week.
