IntroductionOutlook has a variety of different ways to view your Outlook folders. While this gives you a very malleable interface, initially it can be quite confusing. Windows and toolbar icons seem to come and go rather willy-nilly. This section should help bring your options into focus.
OverviewNavigating in OutlookThe Outlook Bar and the Folder List are used for navigating from one folder to another. Each Outlook folder is capable of storing only one type of Outlook item:: Calendar, Contacts, Inbox (email messages), Notes, and Tasks. You can navigate from one folder to another by clicking on the icon for that folder on either the Outlook Bar or on the Folder List. ToolbarsAfter you have selected a folder, the Toolbar(s) for that folder will be displayed. The Tool icons that are displayed change depending on the type of folder you have selected. A Tool that is essential for working with mail items (Send e.g.) is useless for working in the Tasks or the Notes folders. Outlook TodayOutlook Today is capable of acting as a control center. It displays several different types of Outlook Items (configurable by you) and permits you to go to any that you choose. Message Folder ViewsEach Outlook Item has several different ways to display the data contained within that folder. |
